10/02/2016 – 20th Sunday After Pentecost

“Four Gestures of Grace”

Luke 22: 15-25
October 2 , 2016
This Sunday, our Senior Pastor, Barbara Blaisdell will focus her meditation and teaching on the Lord’s Supper. We will join Christians from all around the world in what has become known as Worldwide Communion Sunday.  The service will open with Jesus command regarding communion:  “Do this in remebrabce of me,” spoken in languages from all around the globe as we celebrate the glorious good news that communion, the table of grace is celebrated all across the earth.  Our communion table will be graced by a display of breads from many cultures and our call to worship will include the powerful theme of communion in Jesus’ command:  “Do this in remembrance of me.”   We will hear that command in many of the languages that will be spoken at the Lord’s table from all across the globe this Sunday.
We will be blessed to have the Chancel Choir singing a beautiful arrangement of “Amazing Grace,”  and the Congolese Style Choir singing on the communion theme.
You may have noticed that last Sunday we began to introduce Handbells with a meditative song that repeats the words and melody. The purpose of the simplicity and repetition is to allow us to listen and reflect deeply on the words and music.  Rumor has it that there may be handbells again this Sunday.
