Update on Mary Johnson
As we wrote yesterday, Mary Johnson, long time church member, chancel choir member and Disciples Women’s Ministries member was in critical condition at Tacoma General ICU. I am sad to say that she died at 3:20 am today. Her beloved husband Steve and her sons and families were able to be with her in the hours before she passed on to new life with God. My sadness is for her loss to all of us who loved her, especially Steve and her family. But my sure hope is in the gospel promise that she is now seated at the glorious banquet table with Christ and will be there to greet us all (perhaps with recipies from her storehouse of serving banquets at church!) It is too soon to know any memorial service plans. But we will, of course keep you posted as they are made.
I am mindful that this is the second holiday loss for our church family. We continue to mourn Les Teeters. And most of us have other losses we mourn during this season–all kinds of losses. It is appropriate that we mourn together even as we celebrate the lives and loves that have made our world a richer place.
Yours in Christ,
