Copy of This week's community joys & concerns from Oct. 18, 2026

Among our concerns, we pray for those on a healing journey. We lift up:

  • We add to our prayers this week, Roger Davidson, who is now home after a stint in the hospital due to a heart complication. We lift up Roger as he prepares for a productive and smooth as possible surgery in the coming weeks.

  • Don Nagorski, Matt’s father

  • Pat McDaniel

  • Sue Simpson

  • Bill Poores

We lift up our homebound friends and those for whom making it to Church is increasingly a difficult thing to do due to a variety of challenges among them; we pray for:

  • Dorothy Beeles

  • Norma Carolyn

  • Phyllis Jacobsen

  • Harry Lobberegt

  • Pat Lien

  • Charlene Housman

  • Lela Cox

  • Marc Master

  • Irene McBride

Among our local and global community:

  • We lift the community of Bend, Oregon on the tragic shooting that occurred at Silver Rail Elementary School, resulting in the death of three children and a teacher. We pray for everyone involved grappling with the trauma of such a horrific event and for the loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives. Lest we as a society normalize such violence and the toll it takes not just in lives unnecessarily lost, but in the breakdown of community and the false implication that nothing can be done about it. We pray for our lawmakers to respond substantively to this pervasive issue in America and for the will to move forward, together as one people.

  • We pray for the Village on 6th and Orchard, for the families and their dogs living here at our village, and for the web of agencies and ministries of which we are part in this region powered by a passion for caring for the least among us. As the weather begins to turn cold, now is the time for us to reaffirm our commitment to working for justice and equity for the housing and health for all of God's children.

  • Last but not least, please join me in lifting our Global Ministries partners this week in Democratic Republic of the Congo
