This week's community joys & concerns from Oct. 5, 2025

ree

Among our Joys:

  • Welcome to the world, Nora Lilly-Ann Davidson, Great-Granddaughter of Roger Davidson, who was born on September 13th.

  • And this afternoon, we invite you to join us for a blessing of the animals, a time for us to give God thanks for those companions that show us love without words and teach us about the beauty to be found in each day. Join us at 1 pm at the entryway terrace. If you're bringing a snake, please let me know before arrival so I can mentally prepare.

Add to our concerns:

  • Roger Davidson, undergoing surgery this Tuesday.

  • We also lift up Dennis McClung and his father as they prepare to travel to Nepal on Wednesday for the trip of a lifetime - they will be clinging to the base of Mount Everest together. We pray for safe travels, sacred encounters, and holy glimpses of awe.

Among our Concerns, we continue to pray for:

  • Peter Wright

  • Lela Cox

  • Bill Poores

  • Laura Cohthhril

  • Danny Jablonski

  • For the friends of our extended community and families undergoing health challenges; Raven, Margo, Steve and Jose.

We lift up our homebound friends:

  • Charlene Housman

  • Phyllis Jacobsen

  • Dorothy Beeles

  • Anastasia Cox and her daughter, Lela

  • Harry Lobberegt

  • Jane Nelson

  • Pat Lien

Among our local and global community:

  • In the context of our pet blessing this afternoon, it feels appropriate to lift up the news of the death of Jane Goodall, the woman known as a true friend to the gorillas. We give thanks for the connections she made between the species, for the gift of learning and curiosity about how to better care for our cohabitants among the wild, all of whom God has made with intention and love. May she rest in peace, and may her legacy of understanding, respect for, and love of animals live on.

  • In the midst of oversimplified answers that drown out the dignity of all of God's children, be that in political rhetoric, civil discourse, or action, I invite you to join me in praying for the hearts of God's people to be softened - from words of defiance to eyes and ears of understanding; for those who live in fear to be seen and to be heard and to be found.

  • We pray for peace and compassion throughout the world. Amongst many who find themselves in places of conflict or struggle for justice and peace. We pray for an end to the genocide in Gaza, for those facing political violence and acts of war around the world, including Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Somalia.

  • For the village on 6th and Orchard and for those who find themselves without shelter.

  • And last but not least, we lift our Global Ministries Partners this week in Costa Rica.
