And it is with deep sadness I share the news of the death of a beloved member of this community, spouse of our former minister and dear friend to many, Chuck Blaisdell. Chuck lived a long life of devoted and faithful ministry in several Disciples of Christ congregations around the country, as a regional minister, teacher and mentor to many. As many of you know, upon Barbara's retirement from ministry here at FCC Tacoma, she and Chuck moved to Massachusetts three years ago to savor as much time as possible living closer to their family in the midst of Chucks' battle with cancer. Let us join one another in praying for God's comfort and peace for Barbara, their daughter Katie and her spouse, Yomna, their grandson, and for all the family members and loved ones of Chuck as we give God thanks for his long, beautiful life of love and service to others. May he rest in God's peace.

Among our local and global community:

  • We pray for peace throughout the world. For an end to violence in all its forms, including those perpetuated in the guise of national interest. We pray for Palestine and Gaza, for those intwined in war in Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, for Ukraine, Russia, for those in conflict fighting for justice in Bangladesh, for Afghanistan, Somalia, and in many more places around the world.

  • We pray for the village on 6th and Orchard, and for those who find themselves without shelter.

  • We pray for our Global Ministry partners, this week, in Indonesia.

If you'd like to share a prayer joy or concern, please contact Pastor Doug at doug@fcctacoma.org or by calling the church office. Please indicate whether your prayer is to be shared publicly, or if you'd like it to be kept private.
