This week's community joys and concerns from May 28, 2023

Among our Joys:

We give thanks for the gift of the Holy Spirit, a reminder of God's presence in the midst of life's mystery, an advocate for the broken hearted, courage for defenders of the marginalized, a stirring for all of God's children to be compelled by God's spark which is within and around each and every one of us.

Among our concerns, we continue praying for:

We add to our prayer concerns this week:

Two friends of Martha Redford's:

  • Holly Fredricks, who is undergoing a series of medical tests, and

  • Margo Christiansen, who is struggling with health issues.

We continue to pray for:

  • Pat McDaniel

  • Mel Peabody's partner, Bear

  • Rachel Morford

  • And for our homebound friends, Helen Bosley, Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Jane Nelson, Marylu and Joseph Mills.

We lift up all the loved ones:

  • And we lift up all the loved ones and family members of two of our dearly beloved community whose bodies have now died. We give God thanks for the lives of Jim Thompson and Lenora Cook. We pray for Jim's wife, Kay, for their children, and for Lenora's grandchildren and extended family, and for all who grieve for them. And we cling to the promise of our God whose resurrecting hope is the root of our faith - God's love is eternal, as is the life in which God's love abides in all of creation. Let us be sources of comfort to one another as we remember this promise of Easter.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • We continue to pray for all in harm's ways in the midst of war and the threat of war around the world, including Ukraine, Syria, and Taiwan.

  • We continue to pray for the village on 6th and Orchard, for those living there, for those in need of shelter and community around the city, and for the staff, volunteers, and all who have a hand in caring for the most vulnerable among our own community in the Tacoma area.

  • We pray for our Global Ministries Partners, this week in Venezuela.
