This week's community joys and concerns from June 18, 2023

Among our Joys:

  • Pride Sunday, celebrating God's love for all of God's children, will be Sunday, June 25th. Be sure to wear your most vibrant colors and fabulous attire; we'll have fun embracing God's presence in all the expressions of human life and love.

  • On this Father's Day, we give thanks for the fathers of our lives and for those who have served in such a role. We hold with tenderness all those for whom this day brings difficulty, clinging again to the God of compassion, whose radical love for each of us is to be the model for our call to parent the next generations to come.

Among our concerns, we continue praying for:

  • Holly Fredricks, Dawn Fredricks' daughter

  • Margo Christiansen, friend of Martha Redford

  • Pat McDaniel

  • Mel Peabody's partner, Bear

  • Rachel Morford

  • And for our homebound friends, Helen Bosley, Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Jane Nelson, and Marylu and Joseph Mills.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • We lift up those who are reeling in the fresh tragedy that transpired yesterday at the Gorge Ampitheatre, yet another shooting, taking the lives of two and injuring several more. We cling to God in pain as we recall the many other shootings and acts of senseless violence that are committed in this world, praying for the will and resolve to work for healing and to study war no more.

  • We continue to pray for all in harm's ways in the midst of war and the threat of war around the world, including Ukraine, Syria, and Taiwan.

  • We continue to pray for the village on 6th and Orchard, for those living there, for those in need of shelter and community around the city, and for the staff, volunteers, and all who have a hand in caring for the most vulnerable among our own community in the Tacoma area.

  • We pray for our Global Ministries Partners, this week in the Republic of Congo.
