This week's community joys and concerns from June 25, 2023

Among our Joys:

  • Today is Pride Sunday - and God loves everybody, including the LGBTQ and 2Spirit community. This is a place of welcome, where are all affirmed and loved..

Among our concerns, we continue praying for:

  • Holly Fredricks, Dawn Fredricks' daughter

  • Margo Christiansen, friend of Martha Redford

  • Pat McDaniel

  • Mel Peabody's partner, Bear

  • Rachel Morford

  • And for our homebound friends, Helen Bosley, Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Jane Nelson, and Marylu and Joseph Mills.

  • We add to our prayers this week Jacob Clark and his family, on the news of the unexpected death of his younger brother, Joseph Clark, who died Thursday night from a seizure. We hold each of them with love and lift them to God's comfort and peace in this tender, painful moment as they grieve for Joseph.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • We pray for the families and loved ones of those 82 migrants who who lost their lives on a boat that capsized last week in the Mediterranean Sea off the Coast of Greece. We pray for the hundreds more who were on those boats, whose lives have seen great suffering at the hands of fellow humans whose lust for power has overcome their propensity for compassion. We pray for migrants everywhere, for those seeking safety, for their journeys, and for a safe place to thrive. We pray for our own hearts to be open to those in need of help - and that we unite to speak truth to power, to always stand for the oppressed as this is what Jesus would do.

  • We continue to pray for all in harm's ways in the midst of war and the threat of war around the world, including Ukraine, Syria, and Taiwan.

  • We continue to pray for the village on 6th and Orchard, for those living there, for those in need of shelter and community around the city, and for the staff, volunteers, and all who have a hand in caring for the most vulnerable among our own community in the Tacoma area.

  • We pray for our Global Ministries Partners, this week in Argentina.
