This week's community joys and concerns from September 3, 2023

Among our concerns, we pray for:

  • Linda Hickcox and her family as they remember her brother Dave who passed away on August 22.

  • We lift Mel, her wife, Bear, and their entire family in tender and sacred time as Bear has entered palliative care.

  • Paul Freeman

  • Martha's friends with health complications, Teresa and Margo

  • Mary Morford's daughter, Rachel

  • For all our homebound friends, for Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Helen Bosley, Marylu and Joseph Mills and Jane Nelson.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • We lift up those gearing up to begin a new school year - praying for students, faculty, teachers, and families that they would have the tools and support they need to foster an environment for learning, growth, and community to build. We pray for those for whom this school year brings additional stresses and worries, be that about safety, health, equitable access for those whose families are on the margins of our society, and for those who will be there to cheer our students on.

  • We pray for those in Florida and the surrounding region recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Idahlia

  • We continue to pray for emergency response teams around the country and indeed around the world who continue to tend to communities put a risk due to wildfires. We pray for the safety of all and for the blessing of community to be made manifest in the form of justice and fair treatment to all who find themselves in need in the midst of natural disaster.

  • We lift up those in harm's way due to political unrest and the warring ways of humans, in Niger, Afghanistan, Ukraine, North Korea, Bangladesh, and many more.

  • We also pray for the community living here on 6th and Orchard at the Tiny House Village. We ask for God's comfort and peace to fill the spirits of all those who find themselves alone or without the fuel they need for this day, and for God to continue to awake those of us with resources and time to share to use what we have to healing of our community in every sense of the word.

  • We lift up our Global Ministries partners, this week in the Philippines.
