This week's community joys & concerns from May 5, 2024

Among our Joys:

  • We exceeded our Hunger Walk goal of $500 with a total of $525 for yesterday's event, which benefitting the Pierce County Emergency Food Network. It's not too late to donate: visit efoodnet.org/give.

  • We celebrate with our siblings in Christ, The United Methodist Church who have voted to expand their welcome of God's LGBTQ children into full affirmation of their inclusion in the life and ministry of the Church. Thanks be to God.

  • We celebrate with our partners across the Northern Lights region of the Christian Church (DOC) who gathered in Wenatchee this weekend to do the business of our church, and to install our new Regional Minister, Rev. Paul Allen. We continue to pray for Paul and for all the leaders of our Region, giving thanks for their commitment to the work we're called to do together which we cannot do apart.

Concerns:

  • We hold in our prayers Laura Cohthril, who had another procedure Friday morning. We continue to pray for her and for her care team, that her care continues to go well, and that her recovery is smooth.

  • We also hold Mel Peabody’s mother in our prayers, as she recovers from a fall Friday.

Among our concerns:

  • Pat McDaniel.

  • Karen Murray's friend Nancy.

  • Mary Hans-Zwosta, a friend of Sue Simpson

  • Danny Jablonski, and his spouse, Gordon

  • Marc Master

  • Alex Tapia

  • Corrine Bahrke's friend, Loralie

  • Martha Redford's friends, Margo and Teresa

  • For all our homebound friends, including Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Helen Bosley, Marylu and Joseph Mills and Jane Nelson.

Among our local and global community,

  • We pray for peace, for those under occupation, for those who fall victim to tyrannical rule, for all building peace in a world obsessed with war. We pray for Gaza, the West Bank, Ukraine, Israel, Iran, and anywhere God’s peace is trampled in the human quest for might.

  • We lift up the village on 6th and Orchard.

  • We lift up our Global Ministries partners in the Republic of Congo this week.

  • We also give thanks for the presence in our region of our Global Ministries partners in Colombia, Xiomara Cintron-Garcia with Justapaz and Pablo Moreno with CEDECOL. Xiomara and Pablo will be touring the village on 6th and Orchard and learning about our partnership with LIHI.

If you'd like to share a prayer joy or concern, please contact Pastor Doug at doug@fcctacoma.org or by calling the church office. Please indicate whether your prayer is to be shared publicly, or if you'd like it to be kept private.
